How custom orders work
Inkwattle is a Melbourne brand with our own production. We offer two product categories:
- Part 1 · Ready product range under your brand
- Part 2 · Custom to your brief
See our catalogue (PDF). These rules keep things clear for both of us. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. Sending your files
- Best formats: print-ready PDF (preferred), or high-resolution PNG/JPG/TIFF. Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) work best for logos, line art and foil.
- Photos: send the original, full-size files, not screenshots or images saved from social media or messaging apps.
- Fonts: outline your fonts or send the font files with your artwork.
- Not print-ready? That's fine. Send what you have and we'll tell you what's needed. Design and layout help is available and quoted per project.
- Your rights: please only send images and artwork you own or have permission to use. We may decline files that infringe someone else's rights.
- Your privacy: your files are used only to make your order. They are not shared or used to train AI.
Design fees
- Do you charge for design? If your file is print-ready, there's no design fee. If you'd like us to adjust or create the artwork, there's a one-off design fee, quoted before we start.
- If I go ahead with printing? The whole design fee is credited against your print invoice, so you only pay the difference.
- Is it refundable? Once design work has started, the design fee isn't refundable for a change of mind, but it's fully credited against your print order. This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
2. Proof first: nothing prints until you approve
- Before production you'll get a digital proof with a short printability check (line weight, text size, bleed, colour and finishes).
- Up to 3 rounds of design revisions are free. If you'd like more rounds, we'll tell you what that involves before making any changes.
- Production starts only after your written approval (a clear "approved" by message or email).
- Please check spelling, names, dates, quantities and layout carefully. Once approved, the proof is what we print.
- Screens show colour differently from paper and foil, so small variation between screen and print is normal. If exact colour matters, ask us about a physical sample; the sample fee is fully credited against your first order.
3. Timing
- Production starts once your proof is approved and payment is complete. Timing is confirmed for each order.
- If you have a deadline (for example an event or memorial), tell us before you order and we'll say honestly whether it's realistic.
4. Changes and cancellations
- Before proof approval: you can change or cancel. If design work has already been done, we'll let you know what (if anything) applies before you decide.
- After proof approval: production has started on an item made just for you, so changes or cancellations may not be possible. Ask us as soon as you can and we'll check.
5. Change of mind
Custom and personalised items are made specifically for you, so we can't offer refunds or returns for change of mind (for example, you no longer want it, or chose the wrong option on an approved proof).
6. Printing errors and transit damage
- We reprint only when there's a printing error (it doesn't match the approved proof) or the item arrives damaged in transit. In those cases we'll reprint it free or refund you.
- Please send photos of the problem and the packaging within 7 days of delivery so we can sort it quickly. Contacting us later doesn't remove your rights; it just helps us fix it faster.
- Australian Consumer Law: our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You're entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You're also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure doesn't amount to a major failure. Nothing on this page limits those rights, or any rights you have under the consumer law of your own country.
7. Shipping, import duties and taxes
- We ship with tracking to Australia, New Zealand, the UK and other countries. Delivery times are estimates.
- Import duties and taxes are not included and may be charged by your country's customs on delivery. They are the buyer's responsibility. We don't offer duty-paid (DDP) delivery.
- Please double-check your delivery address. If a parcel is returned because of an incorrect address, re-shipping is quoted separately.
